Looking For Work

From military to sports to business, anyone that has been a part of a high performing team knows that A-players are always looking for work.

“Hey boss, I’m looking for work. Where do you need me?”

It is a simple phrase. The irony is that it applies as much to dangerous covert military missions as it does to chaotic construction sites to bustling bullpens occupied by your real estate finance team.

Benjamin Franklin wrote, “Do more.”

We should all think about how to do more. Our time here is short. Are we working to help everyone around us be better? How can we help others before we help ourselves? Where do you want to be? How can you get there? These are questions that apply to individuals, organizations, and project teams, which are nothing more than a team of teams.

Recently we heard an individual on a project team say “I know nothing about that meeting.”

A simple question is why not? Why were you not informed by your co-worker? Why did you not reach out to ask everyone involved?

You have more control than you think, no matter where you are in the hierarchy. You have the ability to contribute in a positive way.

But it requires work.

It requires doing more.

It requires being your best self.

It requires approaching each day as an A-player.

There is probably a subconscious reason why certain military special forces teams are referred to as A-Teams.

Are you deserving of being on an A-Team?

The great thing is that if you answered no, you can change that. Just start looking for work.
